Ten Years Flying Internationally

Virgin Australia is today celebrating 10 years of international flights. Our first international flight, DJ7 departed Christchurch, New Zealand at 11am on 29 January 2004 for Brisbane, Australia.

Since then, we’ve grown from one international route to over 400. Virgin Australia now operates services to 16 destinations internationally and through our strategic alliance partners, offer 386 codeshare and Interline destinations across the world. Over the past 10 years, we have operated over 100,000 international flights, carrying around 15 million passengers!

To coincide with this milestone, we’re pleased to announce eight new international codeshare services which include Seattle and Boston with Delta Air Lines; Zurich, Minsk, Medina and Rome with Etihad Airways and Athens and Brunei with Singapore Airlines[1].

Ten Years Young
