Thanksgiving Day is a festival celebrated in the United States and traditionally, it has been a time to give thanks for the blessings in one’s life. In the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, V Australia’s US based team came together as volunteers on 29 November to help out The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition, a broad-based grass-roots organization which for the past 22 years has served a hot, fresh, and nutritious meal every night to the homeless and hungry.
Every night a community comes together at the barren street corner of Sycamore and Romaine, along the border of Hollywood and West Hollywood. On one side of a line of tables were the V Australia team members and the volunteers of The Greater West Hollywood Food Coalition, a broad-based grass-roots organization which for the past 22 years has served a hot, fresh, and nutritious meal every night to the homeless and hungry. On the other side were 200 men and women who have somehow fallen through the cracks, and for whom the meal they were about to eat might well be the only meal they had all day.
In the spirit of the holiday season of sharing and giving thanks, serving a meal to the homeless and hungry was a rewarding experience for the team and they hope to volunteer again very soon.

For those surfers out there – Who REALLY is responsible for the shortboard revolution?
“Going Vertical” is the movie that hopes to answer that very question – Was it Australian Bob McTavish or American Dick Brewer that made the first shortboard back in the 1960′s?
