The Easter break and school holidays are a wonderful time to go on a family holiday. Perhaps you’re a little concerned about flying with children, and wondering how to keep them occupied during the flight. As well as making sure they’re well hydrated, get a good night sleep before flying and have boiled lollies to suck on to assist with changes in cabin pressure, here are a few other ways to make your flight as smooth as possible.
Wireless in-flight entertainment
Let’s face it, watching in-flight movies is a great way to pass the time and keep the kids entertained. Our Wireless in-flight entertainment is available on the majority of our domestic and international fleet, and can be accessed using your personal mobile device via our free Entertainment app for iOS and Android. This is an easy way to use multiple devices during your flight, so that the whole family can watch the latest movies, music, TV shows and much more!
High Flyer passports
We’ve recently launched the ‘High Flyer’ passport, exclusively for children aged 10 and under. Before boarding each flight, young travellers can show their passport at the check-in counter to receive a stamp to remember their flight with us. These are sure to put a smile on the faces of our younger passengers, and have them sharing the news of their adventures with friends once they return home. High Flyer passports are available at all domestic check-in counters.
We look forward to welcoming you and your family on board soon.

We’re proud to announce that we’ve become the Official Airline of the Fremantle Football Club and the Premier Partner and Official Airline of the West Coast Eagles for the next five years.
As part of our ongoing commitment to WA, we’ve also unveiled a unique ‘give-back’ program designed to deepen the support between fans and clubs. From today, we’ll be giving $10 back to clubs for every flight taken by Velocity Frequent Flyer members who register their club preference during the 2014 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.
This allows Dockers and Eagles fans to support their club every time they fly with us during the 2014 season at no extra cost, so we’d love to see our Velocity members get involved!
To be a part of the give-back program, simply sign-up to Velocity Frequent Flyer for free at www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/westcoasteagles or www.velocityfrequentflyer.com/fremantle.
If you’re already a Velocity member, you can register your support for your chosen club at www.velocityfrequentflyer.com.
On top of giving back to their club, we’ll also be rewarding the WA Velocity Frequent Flyer fans that fly the most during the season, with an exclusive seat on board a charter flight from Perth to the AFL Grand Final, including tickets to the game and accommodation at Accor Hotels.
Show your support for you club by registering at the links above. Once registered, the more you fly, the more we give-back!

The 2014 Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival’s core program has come to a close, after a spectacular week of runway, beauty and business events. Audiences were wowed by the likes of Camilla, Michael Lo Sordo, Sass & Bide, Carla Zampatti and many, many more, all showcasing their latest collections.
The festival’s theme of See.Feel.React focussed on making the events accessible to everyone, not just those in the fashion industry. The festival team hoped that the accessible nature of the events would allow visitors to embrace their interest in fashion and attend whichever event they desired. That didn’t stop the big name celebrities from attending, with Megan Gale & Eva Longoria being spotted in the front row at the Grand Showcase by Camilla.
As the principal partner of the festival, our stylish Cabin Crew were on hand to welcome guests and ensure they had a fantastic experience. If you weren’t able to attend this year’s festival, we hope to see you at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival in 2015!
Head to vamff.com.au for more fashion festival info.

We are delighted to share the news with you that for the third year running, Virgin Australia will support the United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Awards.
The awards, which coincide with the UNEP World Environment Day, which is held on June 5th annually, recognise innovative and outstanding environmental programs and initiatives from across Australia.
This year, we will be sponsoring the Community Award, which will be awarded to an Australian individual, organisation or business who is actively promoting species, habitats or the environment in their local area. The Award is open to land, waterways and coastal/marine environment based projects.
If you or someone you know is going above and beyond to protect their local environment, you can nominate now by simply filling in the entry form, available here.
Nominations are open nationally until Wednesday 9 May 2012 and the winner will be announced at the World Environment Day Awards presentation dinner, which will be held on Friday 8th June at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne.

In the realm of sport nothing quite shouts Australia, is as innately ‘True Blue’, or as characteristically ‘Occa’ as the AFL.
A game so different to other disciplines grouped under the ‘football’ moniker, the AFL was invented in Melbourne in the mid-19th century out of the desire for a winter off-sport. What started out as a match between two school-boy teams has grown into one of Australia’s favourite sports – supported by millions of face-paint wearing, team song chanting, jersey sporting die-hard fans.
Virgin Australia is proud to be one of these ardent fans, so much so that we’ve join forces with the code to become the “official airline of the AFL”. Our partnership has us following this year’s game results and teams with unrivalled passion.
We were there when Fremantle defender, Michael Johnson came good on his promise to make up for his lacklustre 2011 season. We witnessed Melbourne break convention, when they presented jumpers to their debutants in a huddle on the ground instead of in the rooms. We applauded West Coast’s forward Josh Kennedy as he booted goal after goal to help the Eagles secure a 49-point win over the Western Bulldogs. And we joined with the nation to pay our respect for AFL champion Jim Stynes when he lost his battle with cancer.
As round two gets well underway and the league gears up for round three, we have launched – in conjunction with the AFL Event Office and Blue Holidays – our Any Game Anywhere initiative.
Any Game Anywhere is a simple, fully customised website that enables AFL fans to choose their favourite team and destination, and book game tickets, airfares and accommodation all in a few easy steps.
Virgin Australia Group Executive of Commercial, Liz Savage, said “We are very proud to be the official airline of the AFL, and Virgin Australia is excited to offer AFL fans a range of tailor made packages through this innovative new site. With the convenience of additional flights, more often, we are committed to getting fans to any game anywhere in the country”.
AFL General Manager – Commercial Operations, Darren Birch said, “Any Game Anywhere footy packages are available for all games throughout the 2012 Toyota AFL Premiership Season along with 2012 Toyota AFL Finals Series. The Any Game Anywhere site is dedicated to the AFL code providing an interactive platform for fans, hosting a load of AFL content and news to keep fans updated on their team.”
Take the hassle out of planning your AFL weekend away… All packages include airfares, accommodation and a ticket to the game.
Virgin Australia operates flights direct to the birthplace of AFL, Melbourne, daily from all state capital cities and some major regional ports.
Our holiday program, Blue Holidays in conjunction with Tourism Victoria, also has a range of AFL packages on offer, from $324* per person.
